Preliminary Task Evaluation

In the preliminary task we made a short clip of three friends, a teacher and a disaster. I worked with Jodie, Francesca and Charlie. We each took a turn filming and acting, also we planned where each scene would take place before we filmed. The task consisted of using a script that had already been written and to think of a story to go with it along with using three camera angles; panning, over the shoulder and continuity. Our story was about a three girls at a party who have a disagreement, one of the girls leave and ends up being attacked, she is later rescued and taken to hospital by her english teacher who is also her boyfriend.

In the second scene which takes place in the hospital, Francesca is the camera man and she starts the scene with a panning shot which gives the audience a clear idea where the scene is about to take place. We then see Sonia(me) in a hospital bed along side her is Dan(Charlie). Sonia expresses fear in her voice whilst on the phone to Sam(Jodie) and Toni(Francesca).

The third scene consists of a shot reverse between Sonia and Dan, i believe that this was the best choice of camera angle as it shows the deep worry and concern on both of the characters faces.

In our short film we use continuity twice in the first and second scene. Firstly we see Toni calling Sonia which is shown using an over the shoulder shot looking down on Toni's phone, we then see Sonia pick the phone up which is continuity as it shows the next step in action. In the second scene Sonia's phone loses signal we see a close up shot of Sonia's phone showing the signal bar we then cut straight back to Toni who is shouting Sonia's name down the phone.
